The Malawian music industry and nation at large has lost a rare gem. Born Dalitso Upile Mtambo from Kuchiri Village, T/A Mlumbe in Zomba, Bossaro Ice was more than just an artist – he was a visionary, a family man, and a leader.

Also known by many as Iceberg, Daliballz, and Captain December, Ice stood tall as one of the pillars of Bossaro Music Group (BMG) alongside Bossaro Cyclone, Bizzo, and Bossaro Simo. His passion for music and for Malawi was unmatched.

Beyond music, Ice had a deep desire to uplift others. In February 2019, he was set to launch the House of Deliwe, an organization aimed at empowering young Malawian girls with big ideas in arts, business, health, politics, sports, and more – connecting them with stakeholders who could bring their dreams to life.

This year, he had planned to bless us with an album titled “13-31”, inspired by the ages of his beloved daughter Oriana and himself. Even in his last release, “Tikule”, his pain was felt deeply as he recorded through a cough – a raw expression of the struggles we face as a nation and the need to rise, act, and voice out our pain.

Away from the stage, Ice was a dedicated husband to Lindiwe and a loving father to Oriana and Kairo. Professionally, he pursued law and worked with Nico General Insurance – showing the world that dreams and responsibilities can walk hand in hand.

He always spoke highly of fellow artists, believing Piksy to be the best in Malawi, and one of his wishes was to collaborate with Krazie G.

Today we mourn not just an artist, but a brother, a husband, a father, a lawyer, and a dreamer who carried the weight of his people’s hopes.

Your voice will live on in your music. Your vision will live on in the lives you touched. Your legacy will never fade.

🕯️ Rest in Peace Bossaro Ice – Dalitso Upile Mtambo. Malawi has lost a son, but Heaven has gained a King. 🕊️
